Electronics & Communication Engineering

About the Department

The department of Electronics & Communication Engineering at MBITS was established in the year 2009 with an initial intake of 60 students. The Department provides the best opportunity for aspiring professionals to learn and graduate with all the skills needed to compete in today’s world. With highly competent, dedicated, and dynamic faculty and staff, the department excels in terms of placements, university results, industrial links, project quality, research and development, extra/co-curricular activities, and innovative academic initiatives. Undergraduate students are exposed through the department to both basic and cutting-edge technology in the field of Electronics and Communication. The Department has active collaborations with renowned Indian and International Institutes.

The department library has a collection of textbooks and monographs numbering over 100 titles at the undergraduate level and subscribes several magazines like Electronics for you, Digit, Silicon Chip, Electronics Today etc. In addition to this, the library owns a copy of main project reports, seminar reports and mini project reports done by the students. Standard textbooks by well-known authors are stocked, and every effort is made to obtain all titles recommended by the faculty. The departmental library is available to faculty and students for quick access to referring textbooks, journals, and other materials.

B.Tech in Electronics & Communication Engineering

The B.Tech programme in Electronics and Communication Engineering provides students with a strong technical foundation and research skills that enable them to succeed in their chosen fields. Regular interaction between students and faculty assists students in applying theoretical knowledge to real-world situations. The department provides ongoing learning opportunities through conferences, faculty development programmes (FDP), short-term training programmes (STTP), and workshops. Furthermore, faculty members organise special sessions on topics such as embedded systems, communication, control systems, networking, and so on, which ensures their placement in prestigious multinational corporations.

The department has enough classrooms, all of which are equipped with multimedia projectors and CCTV cameras. The department also has its own Seminar Hall.

With a well-organized and up-to-date delivery of the course where steps are taken to fill in the gaps in the syllabus provided as per the industry/profession needs, the department stays up with the technological advances in the Electronics and Communication Industry.

Some of the advanced papers offered in the curriculum are Nano Electronics, Real Time Operating Systems, Internet of Things, Optical Fibre Communication, Antenna and Wave Propagation, Computer Networks, Biomedical Engineering, VLSI Design, Digital Signal Processing, Digital Image Processing, Electromagnetics, Analog and Digital Communication, FPGA Design System, Information Theory and Coding etc. The curricula are regularly revised to reflect the most recent changes in the local, regional, national, and global contexts.

The Department has several well-equipped laboratories such as Analog circuits Lab, Logic Design Lab, Analog Integrated Circuits Lab, DSP Lab, Advanced Communication Lab, Integrated Circuits Lab, Microprocessor and Microcontroller Lab where students receive rigorous practical sessions. The students are also exposed to laboratory simulation packages like Xilinx, LTSpice, Modelsim, MATLAB/Octave/Jupyter, Keil µvision, Proteus, MPLab, Code Composer Studio, HFSS ANSYS. This aids the students in getting hands-on experience with these emerging technologies. Undergraduate students must successfully complete course/minor/major departmental projects. Students have the chance to practise their communication abilities by presenting seminars. For many years, the culmination of these efforts has resulted in getting more than 75% campus placement in various leading industries and organisations.
