NATIONAL LEVEL COMPETITIONS

National level competitions in engineering colleges serve as a platform for students to showcase their technical prowess, creativity, and problem-solving skills. These competitions, which often include events like hackathons, robotics contests, coding challenges, and design competitions, offer students the opportunity to work on real-world problems, develop innovative solutions, and gain valuable hands-on experience. Participation in these events not only enhances technical knowledge but also fosters teamwork, leadership, and communication skills. Additionally, national level competitions provide a stage for students to interact with peers from different institutions, exchange ideas, and network with industry professionals. Winning or performing well in such competitions can significantly boost students’ resumes and open doors to career opportunities in their respective fields. INTERNATIONAL KARATE CHAMPIONSHIP

Shinju Varghese, from the 2020-2024 batch, represented India at an international Karate championship in Jakarta, Indonesia. She also secured a gold medal in the Senior Female -55 kg Kumite category at the State Shito Ryu Karate Championship, held at Jimmy George Sports Hub on June 10, 2023.

NATIONAL LEVEL SHITORYU KARATE COMPETITION

Shinju Varghese, from the 2020-2024 batch, achieved impressive milestones in karate. She won a silver medal at the National Level Shitoryu Karate Competition held at St. Philomena’s College Stadium in Mysore on July 16, 2023. Furthermore, she represented India at the 10th Shitoryu Karatedo International Championship in Jakarta, Indonesia, from September 22-24, 2023.

SMART INDIA HACKATHON 2019 HATDWARE EDITION - TEAM FORBOT'S 'SEED' VENTURE

At the grand finale of the Smart India Hackathon 2019 hardware edition, held on 18th July  2019, the team from Mar Baselios Institute of Technology and Science, Nellimattom, Kerala were awarded Rs 1 lakh for their invention under the theme Robotics and Drones. The team invented a robot that addressed the huge problem of deforestation.

Team ‘Forbots’ includes BTech students Ganesh Sreedhar from Mechanical Department, Eldhose VG, Abin Eldho, Shefin Johnsy, Sreerag S and Anmariya Joy from Electronics and Communication Engineering Department. Mentored by Dr P Sojan Lal and Mr. Robin George, Assistant professor, ECE Department, the students aimed to tackle the problem of reforestation. The team proposed an unmanned ground vehicle, which could plant seeds, monitor and nurture trees in regions where manual labour is costly, dangerous or impractical. These include wastelands in remote areas, far off rough terrain, and areas under the control of government agencies like the Navy and Army (where access is restricted).
