The Institution of Engineers (India) is an organisation of engineers in India and was incorporated by Royal Charter in 1935. It is currently headquartered in Kolkata. The Institution of Engineers (India) has claimed to have more than one million members in 15 engineering disciplines in 120 centres or chapters in India and overseas; making it the world’s largest multi-disciplinary engineering professional society in the engineering and technology world. The student chapter of Department of Civil Engineering at Mar Baselios Institute of Technology and Science was issued on 22/05/ 2017 having chapter code 686693/MBIT/CV. A total of 130 students joined, out of which 50 student members from first year and 80 from second year of Civil Engineering Branch. The advisor of the chapter is Professor. John Samuel, FIE (INDIA) and staff incharge is Asst. Prof. Ammu Thomas. The inauguration was on 7th November, 2017 and was inaugurated by Er. Chandra Kumaran Nair, FIE, Airport Director & ED (Operations), CIAL. On the particular day a seminar was conducted on “Sun Powers Cochin International Airport” by Er. Chandra Kumaran Nair. Also a seminar on “Possibilities of IEI” was conducted by Er. N Paul George, FIE, Chairman (IEI)..
