The Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) Student Chapter was inaugurated at MBITS, Kothamangalam, to promote innovation, technical excellence, and industry-oriented learning in automotive engineering.

The Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) Student Chapter was officially inaugurated at Mar Baselios Institute of Technology and Science (MBITS), Kothamangalam, on 23 July 2026 under the aegis of the Department of Mechanical Engineering. The inaugural ceremony was graced by Mr. Koshy P. Joseph, Chairman, SAEISS Cochin Division, as the Chief Guest. In his inaugural address, he emphasized the pivotal role of SAE in fostering technical excellence, innovation, leadership, and industry engagement among aspiring engineers while highlighting emerging trends in electric mobility, autonomous systems, and sustainable automotive technologies. The programme was attended by the management, principal, faculty members, and students, who appreciated the establishment of the SAE Student Chapter as a significant step towards strengthening professional and technical development. The chapter aims to provide students with opportunities to participate in technical competitions, workshops, industrial interactions, and collaborative projects, thereby bridging the gap between academic learning and industrial practice. The inauguration marked the beginning of a vibrant platform that will encourage innovation, experiential learning, and professional growth among future mechanical and automotive engineers.
