Technical field visit to HydroPower help the students to gain hands-on exposure to renewable energy infrastructure. HydroPower is a privately owned 50kW hydro power generating unit operates on a 10-meter head and utilizes crossflow turbine. During the visit, students observed the unique dual-pass mechanism of the crossflow runner, which allows water to strike the blades twice for enhanced efficiency across varying flow rates. This visit bridged the gap between theoretical fluid mechanics and practical application, showcasing how kinetic energy is converted into mechanical torque and then into clean electrical power.
