Retrofitting conventional vehicle to Electric vehicle – selected for Preliminary round of KPIT SPARKLE-2020, which is an all India level competition held at Pune by the theme “Mobility and Energy for Future

Final year EEE and ECE students of 2015-2019, have retrofitted a conventional Maruti Esteem to High power Electric Esteem with a 100 KW BLDC Motor by maintaining the existing gear box. The 72 V, 10 KW BLDC Motor is powered by 6 No’s of 12 V lead Acid batteries. The project was guided by Asst. Professor Arun Eldho Alias of EEE dept. Students who did the project were Basil Varghese, Benil C.K, Althaf Ibrahim, Steffi Jomi, Rakhi Chandran, Anagha E.B, Apama S Pillai and Sreeveena K.S of S8 EEE and Eldhose V.G and Abin T Issac of S8 ECE. They also designed a Battery Management System (BMS) and Collision Avoidance System (CAS).The project was well appreciated by Dr. S Somanth, Director VSSC, ISRO.
