The Department of Mechanical Engineering, Mar Baselios Institute of Technology and Science (MBITS), Kothamangalam, inaugurated its departmental association, REGES MECHANICA, on 29 July 2026, marking the commencement of a vibrant platform for promoting technical excellence, innovation, leadership, and collaborative learning among students. The occasion was further strengthened by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Mar Baselios Institute of Technology and Science (MBITS) and the State Technological Innovation Centre (STIC), establishing a framework for collaborative initiatives in research, technical training, skill development, and industry–academia interaction. The inaugural ceremony was graced by Dr. G. K. Pillai, Director, STIC, as the Chief Guest. Following the inauguration and MoU exchange, the Chief Guest delivered an enlightening technical lecture titled "Advancements in India's Space and Defence Technologies: From Launch Vehicles to Strategic Defence Systems," highlighting India's remarkable progress in indigenous aerospace technologies, launch vehicle development, strategic defence systems, and future technological advancements. The programme was attended by the management, principals, faculty members, students, and invited guests, reflecting the institution's commitment to fostering academic excellence, research culture, innovation, and meaningful industry partnerships. The event marked a significant milestone in strengthening institutional collaboration and empowering students with greater opportunities for experiential learning and professional development.
