An industrial visit was organized by the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Mar Baselios Institute of Technology and Science (MBITS), for the 2024–2028 B.Tech Mechanical batch on 31st July 2025 (Thursday) to METCON TMT Bar Dealers, Pezhakkappilly, Ernakulam, in collaboration with the BIS Group. A total of 24 students participated, accompanied by faculty coordinators Prof.Anil M.G and Prof.Abhilash K.V. The visit aimed to provide practical exposure to the manufacturing and quality control processes of TMT (Thermo-Mechanically Treated) steel bars, bridging the gap between theoretical learning and industrial applications. Students observed the complete production cycle—from raw material refining and casting to rolling, quenching, and tempering—and gained valuable insights into testing procedures such as tensile strength and bending evaluations using UTM and Setro Machines. The visit offered a comprehensive understanding of the processes ensuring the strength and reliability of TMT bars used in construction.
